The Kitchen Linens Book + Apron Giveaway!!

Welcome to our first giveaway! And what a perfect giveaway it is. Everyone's favorite apronista, EllynAnne Geisel (author of the beautiful books The Apron Book: Making, Wearing, and Sharing a Bit of Cloth and Comfort and Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Everyday) has just released The Kitchen Linens Book: Using, Sharing, and Cherishing the Fabrics of Our Daily Lives. And it is a treasure. Here is a brief description from, EllynAnne's website Apron Memories:

"The Kitchen Linens Book invites women of all ages to visit with the past. In this book, Geisel gives us an up-close look at tablecloths, dishtowels, and napkins with details and histories as fine as the stories themselves. Embroidered or hemstitched, linens or oilcloths–these are the fabrics and the memories of our mothers and grandmothers. And each one has an endearing story and a vivid history."
Not only that, it features over 20 projects, 8 recipes, and a 1945 Butterick transfer pattern for a vintage kitchen towel motif.

In addition to The Kitchen Linens Book, you can win this lovely apron, repurposed from a vintage kitchen curtain. This lovely linen has sweet embroidered flowers along the bottom and is finished off with red ric rac and a cute red gingham ruffle. The Kitchen Linens Book and an apron made out of repurposed kitchen linens...could it get any better?! All you need is your favorite beverage on a quiet morning and you've got the perfect moment.

Ok, on with it...how do you win? It's simple. Leave us a comment. Any comment. We would love suggestions as to what you'd like to see on our blog. But just leave us any comment and make sure we have a way to get in touch with you. Want to be entered twice? Blog about this giveaway on your blog, then come back and leave another comment and you'll have another chance to win! You have until next Wednesday, March 11th 11:59pm to enter. We will choose the winner through the random number generator at random.org.

* A big thank you to Andrews McMeel for providing the book!

Wow what a great giveaway! I really enjoy this blog. I'm somewhat new to sewing and really want to make myself a great apron, but have yet to actually attempt it (I have made a child's apron and one for my mom as practice), but I enjoy seeing all the gorgeous ones you guys make- I'm sure one of these days they will motivate me to make some! :)

gorgeous! i have an unhealthy obsession with aprons lately and your blog is one of my favourite places!

I love checking up on your blog to see if your Club has made any new aprons. I too love aprons. I think it is a funny addiction to have because I hate to cook. I made some aprons for a Boutique awhile ago and I told the ladies that were interested in them that if you HAVE to cook you might as well look good doing it.

I found out about you on the Apronista and Im so happy that I did i already added you to my google reader list.

I went through several of your pages and I am quite impressed. I love the mix of goodies for adults and kids!

It is always interesting for me to read reviews on different patterns people have made. So if anything I would suggest more of that.

Please count me in for the giveaway. I have had my eye on this book, but just not the funds for it right now. I could go on about how much this book would do for me (haha) but i wont. my fingers will be crossed though.

What an awesome book to offer. I have collected kitchen textiles and hand tools for years. I'm always looking for new ways to use them in decorating.
My biggest problem is lack of kitcehn space. My apron collection currently graces the backs of chairs, the wall of my dining room and the egdes of every bookshelf and display rack.

I really need this apron because I'm a McMillan, and I don't even have a suitable apron to wear. Not a single one. So, why cook? If I won this apron, not only would my life be blessed, but my husband, our children, and our children's children would be blessed. Truthfully.

It's a long story, but last fall your blog re-kindled my long dormant creative gene. As a result, I made aprons for all my sisters and my mother out of my grandmothers unfinished quilting project (she died when I was 8). And I got inspired by Rachel's banner, and now I have an Etsy shop making banners, not out of fabric, though. But it all started here. So thanks!
