Sew cute, yet no sewing - something fun to do with your kids

I love this. I teach preschool and today our theme was dogs. I didn't have a craft already planned so I grabbed the computer and did a quick search for dog craft - this is what came up... wow. I can make this with 3 year olds and it costs me nothing.

I have a kazillion mismatched socks, I can use the insides of an old pillow for stuffing, and the for eyes - do you want googly or buttons? I don't have cute socks to make the hoodies, but seriously -  So cute. Danielle has so many different animals on her site that you can make within a few minutes. What a great idea - you can click here to see more.

Keep in mind, they helped stuffing and picked out the ribbons, the glue gun is too hot (for even me), I burnt my finger at least 3 times.

Even though it's not as cute as Danielle's - it's a cute little craft and so easy.

Let's sew already...

OKay so we've had a bit of a break from sewing night - I think the Zootique and Christmas wiped us out. So this Thursday my house 8ish - see you here. This is what I will be making.

It's a travel high chair made from fabric - ingenious... Made by Jill gives the dimensions she used here. Here is a tutorial by This Mama Makes Stuff. It really doesn't look too hard! Bust wish me luck anyway.

Also this, I think it's been a while since we've had a tutorial, so I will make a kids apron out of this pattern and give one or two of these away starting in a week or so - what are your plans for apron night?

Hello Again

It sure has been quiet on this site for a while now. I think we are all recovering from the holidays and just haven't found it in ourselves to sit in front of our machines and bust out another apron/purse/quilt/dress. At least that is how I feel right now. But I am finding myself itching for a project and miss spending time with my machine, Hansel and of course being with the SSC sisters. My sewing funks never last long and after these treasures that I found, I have a feeling that the sewing bug will bite me again and Hansel and I will be bonding once again.
Santa was very kind to me this Christmas as far as extra spending cash goes and I swore to myself that I wouldn't spend the money on fabric or patterns. I was going to get some much needed jeans, Sunday outfit, blow dryer, ect. Well if you know me at all, you know that I can talk myself into and out of anything (hence, why I am still drinking Diet Coke after many failed attempts at quitting). So when I saw this from The Sweet Shop at Etsy

I HAD to have it. I have been looking for a sweet pea coat type coat for Elsie and I think this one is the ticket. Oh my gosh, with sweet polka dot rain boots...the cuteness is too much for me.
Speaking of polka dot rain boots, when I found a pattern for these:

at I Think Sew I got so excited. So cute, right?
And than of course I had to look at her other patterns and decided to throw this pattern:

and this pattern:

into my shopping cart because I have no self control and couldn't resist.
Have I mentioned that I love e-patterns? I didn't have to wait for these last three patterns to come in the mail, they were instantly in my email. For someone who loves instant gratification, this was perfect!
Now to the fabric store to (my other love) to find the perfect fabrics to complete these already adorable pieces. I'll post when (this may be a while) I get them finished. Wish me luck!
